Deploy the ConcealBrowse extension to Chrome, Edge, and Brave on Windows 10+ using Datto and PowerShell

Description

Deploy the ConcealBrowse extension to Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave browser on Windows 10+ endpoints seamlessly with Datto RMM and PowerShell.

This process results in automatic device registration to the conceal.io platform.

Applies to

  • Datto RMM
  • Microsoft PowerShell
  • Google Chrome version 101 and newer
  • Microsoft Edge version 77 and newer
    • Windows must be joined to Active Directory or Azure Active Directory
  • Brave browser
  • Microsoft Windows 10+

Procedure

This article is written based on available support articles but not tested by Conceal yet.

  1. You may download the Install-ConcealBrowse.ps1 PowerShell script from this article, you must be logged in to access it, creating an account is free: Current ConcealBrowse PowerShell Script

Create Datto Component

  1. In Datto using the New UI > Automation > Components > Create Component
  2. Enter a name "ConcealBrowse on Windows"
  3. Set an icon, Description, and Level
  4. Category should be Scripts
  5. For Script language: PowerShell
  6. Paste in the script provided
  7. Script Timeout: 300 seconds
  8. Does not require component credentials
  9. For sites, start with a test site and limited test group

Variables

Review the documentation at the top of the PowerShell script to determine which variables (parameters) you may want to configure. For test deployments the default settings are often sufficient.

  1. To customize the script click Add Variable
  2. Name must match the Parameter name in the script
  3. Type, default value, and description are defined in the script
  4. SiteID and CompanyID are mandatory variables and the script will not execute without them
    1. Find your Company ID & Site ID: Register New Device > Step 4
  5. Repeat these steps for additional Variables you wish to control

Finish up

  1. There are no files or post-conditions necessary
  2. Save the component
  3. Create a job to execute the component
    1. eg a Quick Job
